LIVERPOOL are closing in on the stunning signing of Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini.
The Belgian is out of contract at the end of the season and has yet to sign an extension at Old Trafford. And with Liverpool expecting to lose Emre Can with Juventus interested, Jurgen Klopp is looking for a replacement.
The German is looking to bolster his squad in order to challenge for the Premier League title next season.
And now TransferMarketWeb, who have a questionable record with their transfer rumours, say the Reds have earmarked Fellaini as that man and are closing in on his signature.
The Belgian has also been linked with Monaco, Paris St-Germain, Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Roma. Fellaini has fallen down the pecking order under Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho this season.
The likes of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera and Scott McTominay have all been preferred by the Special One.
Fellaini has been at United for five seasons after coming in as David Moyes’ first signing when he took over from Sir Alex Ferguson.
If the 30-year-old does leave for Liverpool he is likely to anger Red Devils fans as well as Everton supporters. Fellaini played on the blue side of Merseyside between 2008 and 2013.
Fellaini is unlikely to start for Mourinho’s side although he could be used off the bench if needed.
The midfielder has made 20 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring just four times.
