Sadio Mane’s hamstring injury could hardly have come at a worse time for Liverpool as they gear up for a vital part of the season.
The Senegalese winger will be out for up to six weeks, after damaging his leg on international duty against Cape Verde, and is now set to miss some huge matches.
Obviously, the 25-year-old will be out of Liverpool’s crunch Premier League tie this weekend against Manchester United, in what will be a bitter blow to Jurgen Klopp.
The problems don’t stop there, though. He will miss three Champions League ties – two against Maribor and the trip to Seville, while also another massive Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur.
Domestic games against Huddersfield, West Ham and his former club Southampton will also fall by the wayside.
His scheduled return will be against Chelsea on November 25, but if there are any further slight setbacks, he will miss that too. Regardless of whether he makes that or not, this is a huge blow for Liverpool – who are already seventh in the table.
