Reds superstar Philippe Coutinho as made a worrying demand in regards to him leaving Liverpool.
The Brazilian was expected to move to Barcelona in the summer, after the Catalan giants put in three separate bids for his services.
Remarkably, despite handing in a transfer request at the club, Coutinho remained at Liverpool and has been in fine form since his return to the first-team. But the Reds’ hopes of keeping their star man appear to fading once again.
According to the Daily Mirror, Coutinho wants assurances that he will be allowed to leave for Barcelona in the summer.
There has been talk of the La Liga leaders returning with a bid for the midfielder in January.
Coutinho was made captain last week in the 7-0 thrashing of Spartak Moscow, in which the playmaker scored a hat-trick. But the Mirror claim Coutinho still has his heart set on a move to Spain.
However, the 25-year-old appears happy to remain on Merseyside beyond the New Year, as long as he is allowed to move in the summer.
Liverpool may be on the hunt for two new central midfielders before the start of next season. Emre Can has also been heavily linked with a move to Juventus in the coming months.
The German’s contract runs out at the end of the season and negotiations over a new deal have stalled. Luckily for the Reds, Naby Keita will be a Liverpool player for the start of next season.
