LIVERPOOL could reportedly be set to lose Emre Can to Premier League rivals Manchester City next summer.
Can’s contract situation at Liverpool is yet to be resolved with time running out for the Reds to agree to a new deal.
The Germany international is able to leave the club on a free at the end of the season and could also be available for a cut-price fee in the New Year.
Juventus were extremely keen on bringing the midfielder to the Italian league in the summer transfer window but failed with an offer.
And Beppe Marotta, Juventus chief executive, has since confirmed they will not return for the German in the January transfer window.
But, according to the Daily Star, the Serie A giants will face competition from Manchester City next summer.
The report claims Pep Guardiola’s presence at the Etihad will prove too much for Can to turn down.
He has been touted as the ideal replacement for Yaya Toure, who worked his way back into Guardiola’s plans last season but has played just two Premier League matches this campaign.
Jurgen Klopp has been very vocal on his hope that Can will extend his contract at Liverpool.
And he hinted earlier this month that negotiations could run until the very last minute.
Klopp said: “It’s allowed that he could sign a contract with us in May. I have no problem with that.”
