Lacazette, who is also interesting Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Manchester United and Arsenal, is widely expected to leave the club this summer after making a name for himself in Ligue 1, scoring 100 league goals since his debut for the side back in 2010.

Lyon are still hopeful of persuading the France international to stay at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais but his desire to play in the Champions League, a competition Liverpool have qualified for, means the 26-year-old is likely to depart.

The report claims Liverpool could meet with Lacazette’s advisors within a week as Manchester United up their pursuit of the striker after their chase of Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann ended in disappointed.

Atletico, who were also said to be interested in snapping up Lacazette, saw their transfer ban upheld on Thursday, meaning they cannot sign any players until January 2018 and they will not allow their best players to leave without replacements.

Liverpool remain confident of beating United to Lacazette’s signature as Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho targets other signings.
