Netherlands duo Virgil van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum returned to Liverpool for pre-season training on Sunday in preparation for the 2018/19 campaign.
Both players took part in lactate tests, with manager Jurgen Klopp present as they ran around a track and took blood samples.
Soon Klopp will have his whole squad back at Melwood and Van Dijk is very excited about what the new season holds.
“Like I said when I arrived, I want to achieve everything possible with this beautiful club,” he said. “We’re going to work our socks off and do everything possible to make it happen this season.
“We were very close to silverware but obviously not close enough. I can improve in any aspect of the game.
“At the moment, it’s getting back to full fitness, making sure I’m getting better and stronger than I was before. I will work every day and do everything possible and no doubt it will happen.”
Van Dijk missed Liverpool’s friendly against Chester on Saturday but hopes to return to action next weekend.
BIG SEASON AHEAD
“If everything goes well, hopefully next weekend I’ll get my first minutes of the season. We’ll see,” Liverpool’s No.4 added.
“I’m just happy to be back and now we can get back to work. We have great games coming up and we’re going to work very hard. I’m looking forward to it.”
Having only joined Liverpool in January for £75m, it wouldn’t be surprising if Van Dijk is even better in his second season as he continues to gel with his teammates.
Klopp was certainly happy to welcome him and Wijnaldum back to training judging by what the German said when he saw them for the first time.
In the video below, Klopp’s walks up to the pair and says: “My life is getting better and better.”

Amazing. Something special is happening at Liverpool at the moment and you can see just how united Klopp and his players are.
Continue in that same vein next season and there’s every chance the Reds can end their trophy drought, which stretches back to the 2012 League Cup.
