JURGEN KLOPP could surprise Liverpool fans with one to two unknown January signings, according to club legend John Barnes.
Liverpool have had a stunning start to the season and sit second in the table – six points off league leaders Chelsea.
The Reds look like they could push the Blues all the way for the Premier League title in Jurgen Klopp’s first full season in charge.
However, former striker Barnes thinks the squad could still do with one or two additions and he has backed Klopp to make some surprise January signings.
“If there’s an opportunity to get a player now to help win the league then why not?” Barnes told talkSPORT.
“Rather than sitting around and waiting for the end of the season which he probably thought he would have done at the start of the season.
“January is not the time to buy because players aren’t available but the one thing you can say about Klopp with his knowledge and his method, he would be able to get a player who we’ve never heard of who may be available.
“They might not be the greatest player in the world with what we expect but he will know what that player can do.
“If he signs a player for £4million from Mainz or somewhere like that, whereby in the past we would have been disappointed because he’s not a big-name player, the fans will get right behind him.
“There are players who are available and can improve you. I think he will look at one or two players.”
