JURGEN KLOPP will demand Gerard Deulofeu in exchange for Philippe Coutinho when Barcelona return for the Liverpool star, according to shock reports.
The former Everton winger is said to be in the plans of the Liverpool manager. Barcelona are expected to reignite their pursuit of Coutinho come January, having missed out in the summer.
Despite offering as much as £118m for the Brazilian playmaker, Liverpool held firm. But Coutinho remains keen to move to Nou Camp after handing in a transfer request in August.
And according to Spanish outlet Don Balon, Ernesto Valverde has now asked for the signing of Coutinho to be forced through by Barcelona chiefs.
However, to land the 25-year-old, the Catalan giants may have to lose a recent signing in Deulofeu.
Barcelona activated their buy-back clause to re-sign the 23-year-old from Liverpool’s arch-rivals Everton in the summer. And following the £200m sale of Neymar to PSG and injury to Ousmane Dembele, Deulofeu has seen his game time drastically increase.
But he potentially faces a swift exit and return to Merseyside in order for Barcelona to get their top target.
Don Balon add Klopp believes Deulofeu would offer Liverpool extra speed in attack.
Valverde would apparently be willing to part with the Spaniard too, with Barcelona in need of Coutinho’s quality in midfield.
Bringing Deulofeu, who had three seasons at Everton, to Anfield and letting Coutinho go would certainly be a bold move by Klopp.
