Jurgen Klopp wants to meet with Ousmane Dembele’s mother in a bid to convince the Barcelona star he should move to Liverpool this summer, reports say.
The Barcelona forward is a transfer target of Klopp, but there are numerous obstacles in the Liverpool boss’ way.
Dembele is unsure whether leaving Barcelona after just one season in Spain would make sense, while Liverpool chiefs have told Klopp a £88m move for the attacker would be difficult to pull off.
Despite this, Klopp wants to talk to Dembele’s mother to see if he can get her on side when it comes to a potential switch to Anfield, Mundo Deportivo claim.
Liverpool believe they would need to sell Mohamed Salah to fund a move for Dembele, while the 21-year-old is not convinced he would be guaranteed playing time in Klopp’s team.
Klopp will also speak directly to Dembele, who he has been watching closely ever since the France international signed for Borussia Dortmund.
Dembele left Dortmund after just one season in the Bundesliga to become Barcelona’s marquee signing last summer and enjoyed a good first season despite injury woes. The pacey winger scored four goals and provided nine assists in just 24 appearances.
Barcelona still rate the youngster highly, but the arrival of Antoine Griezmann this summer could cause Dembele to leave the club.
