Jurgen Klopp has revealed he believes Liverpool youngster Kevin Stewart is the best tackler he has at his disposal.
The 23-year-old has become a regular squad member under Klopp since he took over last year and has already made nine appearances this season.
Stewart played 90 minutes in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Tottenham and Klopp was full of praise for his player after the game.
‘I have said a few times, he’s the best challenger in the squad”
‘One-on-one he is really ugly to play against.
‘He’s a good footballer, good player and he had a good game. Very good.’
Klopp clearly has high hopes for the defensive midfielder, but Stewart has a host of in-form Liverpool players to dislodge before becoming a starting eleven regular.
Captain Jordan Henderson, Emre Can and Georginio Wijnaldum are all ahead of Stewart in the pecking order, but with Liverpool still going strong in the EFL and FA Cup, there will be plenty of opportunity for the youngster to impress.
Liverpool travel to Crystal Palace this weekend in the Premier League looking to go top of the table with a big win.
