Jurgen Klopp ready to make changes after Liverpool ‘lost the plot’

Jurgen Klopp has told his fringe players to be primed for action as he prepares to test Liverpool’s squad strength.

Klopp named an unchanged starting line-up for the third successive game in Saturday’s home game against Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Reds maintained their 100% start to the season but were significantly below par in a narrow 1-0 win, with Klopp later admitting there was a lack of intensity from his team.

And he has hinted there could be changes for Saturday’s trip to Leicester City, the last game before the forthcoming international break.

“I know how it looks at the moment – we played three times now with the same line-up,” said Klopp.

“Leicester we will see what we can do and then hopefully they all come back healthy (from the international break).

“But we have to use all of them and we will do. Then the games are really coming, it is an intense time and it looks like ‘How can you leave out him or him or him?’.

“Don’t forget Divock Origi and Dom Solanke trained really, really good and are not in the squad (on Saturday). That is really hard but they will be used as well and they will have a part to play.”

Liverpool recorded their first 1-0 win since defeating Crystal Palace at home by the scoreline more than 12 months ago.

And Klopp was delighted his team could get over the line against Brighton despite “losing the plot” and struggling with the “intensity” in the second half after Mohamed Salah’s 23rd-minute strike.

“My whole life I have found a 1-0 a very pleasing result,” he said. “I like it a lot but I am really happy after a 4-0 to be honest!
