Jurgen Klopp has praised Nathan Redmond as a “good choice” to replace Liverpool summer signing Sadio Mane at Southampton.
Southampton experienced another off-season of upheaval, as Claude Puel was brought in as manager after Ronald Koeman departed for Everton.
The south coast club also suffered some key player sales, as Graziano Pelle, Victor Wanyama and Mane left.
Redmond has perhaps been the most impressive arrival, having started all 11 Premier League fixtures this term, while netting three goals since his £10m move from Norwich City.
Ahead of Liverpool’s meeting with Puel’s side this weekend, Klopp told his pre-match press conference: “I don’t know them, but what I saw is that they had to replace a good manager.
“They had to replace Sadio Mane, Redmond is quite a good choice. They had to replace Pelle, it worked. They kept [Dusan] Tadic. They are a good football team.
“But we want to go there and win, rather than celebrate Southampton’s scouting department.”
