The Jump 2017: LFC hero admits he is worrying more about wearing LYCRA than skiing

ROBBIE FOWLER has admitted he’s one of the worst skiers on this year’s The Jump but he is more worried about putting on a lycra bodysuit each week.

The former Liverpool footballer is one of the many contestants taking part in this year’s Channel 4 show which sees celebrities take on various winter sports such as skeleton and bobsleigh.

And the 41-year-old has revealed that he had never put skis on up until five weeks ago due to his upbringing in Toxeth.

Speaking to Radio Times, he said: “I’m probably one of the worst, but I’m looking at it with a positive attitude. There’s only one way I can go, so I have something to aim for.

“Until five weeks ago I had never put skis on. With my background, I wasn’t really going to. fowler

He also explained he was never allowed to hit the slopes because of his contract at a football club.

But, even though the show has been slammed as one of the most dangerous reality programmes with many celebrities suffering horrific injuries, Robbie admitted that isn’t his biggest worry.

The Liverpudlian is more anxious about wearing lycra.

He continued: “Standing on top of a hill you’ve got to ski down and then jump off didn’t bother me. But putting the tight suit on? That worried me.

“I’m not in as good shape as I once was.”

Robbie is joining a host of big sporting names on the show including Sir Bradley Wiggins and Olympiac gymnast Louise Smith, Paralympian Kadeena Cox, ex-Wales rugby player Gareth Thomas and rugby union’s Jason Robinson.

He confessed he has gone out drinking with his rival contestants and on his first day skiing, he was sick.

“I spewed my guts up everywhere. I think it was the altitude – that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it…”

Big Brother winner Josie Gibson, The Only Way is Essex star Lydia Bright, Made In Chelsea’s Spencer Matthews and Irish model Vogue Williams are also lined up to compete.
