John Barnes says he has been very impressed by what he has seen from Sadio Mane since his arrival at Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
The Senegal international has been a regular fixture in the Liverpool team since his arrival at Anfield from Southampton in the summer.
Mane scored four goals and made two assists in his first nine Premier League games for the Merseyside outfit.
And Liverpool legend Barnes has been very impressed by the striker’s performances, as well as the Reds’ displays as a whole in their first full season under Jurgen Klopp.
Speaking in an interview with Metro, Barnes said: “With Liverpool it’s a team effort. The way they play and the way they press is incredible and there are a lot of good players on good form.
“I’ve been impressed with Mane. Coutinho is obviously the creator and then you have Firmino who is also playing well. Matip at the back is also looking very solid.
“Liverpool are looking much stronger than last year.”
Liverpool finished eighth in the Premier League table last season under Klopp and as a result do not have the distraction of European football this term as they focus fully on domestic affairs.
The Reds return to Premier League action after the international break with a trip to Southampton on 19 November.
