PARIS ST-GERMAIN forward Jese Rodriguez reportedly returned to training on Thursday, despite talk of an impending move to Middlesbrough.
According to L’Equipe, Jese, 23, was absent from training on Wednesday to finalise a temporary switch to the Riverside.
Boro have already agreed a deal with PSG and Aitor Karanka is now trying to convince the Spaniard to head for Teesside.
But Jese reportedly took part in yesterday’s session, possibly meaning the move has fallen through.
And that could be good news for Liverpool.
Las Palmas president Miguel Angel Ramirez last month revealed that the Reds were keen to snap up Jese, saying his club had been priced out of a move due to their interest.
He told Las Provincia newspaper: “Jese Rodriguez is a great footballer.
“He wants to come to Las Palmas, but he is owned by PSG and earns a salary that is of his level – and that is very high.
“Liverpool, Milan and Roma want Jese and are ready to pay what he earns.
“We cannot afford that salary.”
PSG parted with over £20m to sign Jese from Real Madrid last summer.
But he has endured a torrid start to life in the French capital, starting just one top-flight fixture for Unai Emery’s side.
