Jamie Carragher has responded to a fan who said he deliberately spat at the 14-year-old girl

The dust is beginning to settle on Jamie Carragher’s ugly spitting incident.

It’s nearly two weeks now since footage emerged of the former Liverpool defender spitting into the car of a man and his 14-year-old daughter following the Reds’ 2-1 defeat to Manchester United.

He’s since been suspended by Sky Sports until the end of the season, and discussions will be had surrounding his possible return.

A Sky Sports statement read: “Jamie has taken full responsibility for what has happened and we will ensure he gets the help he needs to guarantee something like this never happens again.

“Before the start of the next season we will sit down with Jamie to discuss whether he is ready to return to his role.”

There are some who believe Carragher should lose his job and others who think he deserves a second chance.

An argument on Twitter, between two fans who debated Carragher’s future at Sky Sports, caught the attention of the 40-year-old.

CARRAGHER WEIGHS IN ON FANS’ DEBATE
One fan, who goes by ‘@hotdogfog’ on Twitter, believes Carragher will be comprised if he has to react to a player spitting at another player and therefore he cannot continue at Sky Sports.

“What happens when he’s on #MNF and a player spits at a player, how can he objectively discuss that ??,” the fan wrote.

“How can @Carra23 expect to be a respected pundit now !?”

@hotdogfog continued to argue that Carragher spat at the 14-year-old, to which the ex-centre-back weighed in: “I didn’t spit at the child I did it at the car (still awful I know) I did not see it was a child as she was lent back because her dad was filming.”

It seems Carragher is going to have a hard time shaking the idea that he intentionally spat at the young girl.
