Micky Quinn has claimed that he’s heard on the grapevine that Jurgen Klopp is unhappy with striker Daniel Sturridge.
Quinn, 54, who played for Newcastle and Portsmouth during his football career was born in Liverpool and is still a fan of the club.
As a former footballer with contacts in the game, he will have access to information that isn’t available to the public and he has claimed that Klopp gave the England international a real ear bashing following the 0-0 draw with Manchester United and has predicted a January move for Sturridge.
“I’ve heard on the grapevine that Klopp is not happy with Sturridge,” Quinn told Tuesday’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, as quoted by TalkSport.
“Klopp really gave him an ear-bashing a couple of games ago.
“To me, the one thing about Liverpool is they’ve got so much talent in attack
“They’ve got Coutinho, Firmino, Origi, Lallana – there are a lot of options and it’s probably the one position where they can afford to let a player go.
“He doesn’t look the same player does he? You can’t fault his goalscoring ability, but does he work hard enough in the other aspects of the game?
“I think he might be gone in the January transfer window.”
Sturridge, 27, has suffered with injuries while at Anfield, but he was usually considered a key player in the Liverpool team.
However, under Klopp in the new campaign he has scored four goals in nine appearances, but yet hasn’t netted in Premier League.
His performance in his last start against Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cup on Tuesday was more than convincing but it seems less likely Klopp to change his decision and start with the prolific Englishman in next Premier League game against Crystal Palace.
