Liverpool will sign Virgil van Dijk and keep Philippe Coutinho, but won’t get a deal for Naby Keita over the line, according to Ken Early.
The Reds have endured a mixed summer transfer window so far after bringing in three new faces ahead of the start of the 2017-18 Premier League season.
Liverpool snapped up former Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah in a £39m deal from Serie A giants AS Roma to improve their attacking options.
The Reds have also signed England Under-20 international Dominic Solanke in a transfer from Premier League champions Chelsea.
The Merseyside out have addressed their weakness at left-back with the £8m addition of Scotland international Andy Robertson from Hull City.
However, Liverpool have been unable to tempt Southampton into selling their Netherlands international Van Dijk.
Bundesliga runners-up RB Leipzig have also rejected Liverpool’s overtures to sign Keita despite the Reds offering club-record fees for the 22-year-old.
Speaking to the Second Captains podcast about Liverpool’s potential transfer deals in the remaining weeks of the summer window, Early said:
“The most likely outcome for Liverpool is they won’t get Naby Keita, they will get Virgil van Dijk and they will keep Philippe Coutinho.”
Liverpool finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season to secure a return to the Champions League.
