Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has stated that he is “sick” of conceding goals like the one that Islam Slimani scored against his side for Leicester City in the Carabao Cup tonight.
The goal stemmed from a Leicester throw-in, with Slimani applying the finishing touch as he found the net with a superb strike.
Leicester prevailed with a 2-0 victory at the King Power Stadium, with Klopp left livid with how his side defended.
Speaking post-match Klopp said: “We played really good football in first half, should have decided it…but… i’m sick of goals like this to be honest.
Slimani’s goal was similar to the one that Scott Arfield scored for Burnley against Liverpool in the Premier League last weekend, with Klopp’s side switching off from a throw-in.
Liverpool’s defensive problems are longstanding and Klopp, so far at least, has been unable to address the issue.
Although the Carabao Cup wasn’t especially high on Liverpool’s list of targets this season, this result means that the Reds have now gone four games without a victory.
They face Leicester away again on Saturday in the Premier League.
