Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed that his Manchester United team-mates warned him to expect a ‘dirty’ game against rivals Liverpool this weekend.
The Swede scored a late equaliser against the Reds at Old Trafford to scrape a 1-1 draw on Sunday, and he admits it was not a vintage performance from either side on the day.
Ibrahimovic has adjusted well to the Premier League in his first season in English football, but admits the games against United’s biggest rivals Liverpool are something different altogether.
‘The (Liverpool) game was different,’ he explained.
‘It was a ‘dirty’ game, in the way we had to play more direct, by jumping over the midfield because the pressure Liverpool put on us was hard
‘It was difficult and the first game against them (at Anfield in October) was the same.
‘The guys told me every game we play against Liverpool looks like this.’
