Liverpool centre-back Dejan Lovren has revealed a death threat he has received on Instagram.
The 28-year-old has struggled to find form this season and was even brought off after just 32 minutes in the 4-1 defeat to Tottenham as his mistakes allowed Spurs to take a two-goal lead.
Sections of Liverpool supporters have called on Jurgen Klopp to drop Lovren from the team. But ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League clash with Maribor on Wednesday, Lovren has shared a new direct message on Instagram which threatened his family.
In 2015, Lovren was forced to deactivate his Instagram account after receiving similar abuse. Lovren is an injury doubt for Liverpool’s Champions League clash at Anfield after he pulled out of Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Huddersfield.
The Croatia international suffered an injury in the warm-up and was replaced by Ragnar Klavan.
