How Liverpool players reacted to Alisson’s first training session on Tuesday [Mail]

Slowly but surely Liverpool are building a team worthy of winning the Premier League.

Last summer saw the world-class Mohamed Salah join from AS Roma before Virgil van Dijk completed a £75m move from Southampton in January.

Naby Keita and Fabinho then arrived on July 1 to bolster Liverpool’s midfield, while Alisson recently became a Red in a £66m deal.

Here’s how Jurgen Klopp’s side could look for the 2018/19 season:

Alisson; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dejan Lovren, Van Dijk, Andy Robertson; Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, Fabinho; Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane

Strong. Liverpool are currently second favourites for the Premier League title and it’s easy to see why based on the signings Klopp has made this summer.

Alisson’s move will arguably be the most important. Liverpool have lacked a top-class goalkeeper since Pepe Reina and instead settled for the mediocre Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius.

KARIUS’ REPLACEMENT
But times are changing and according to the Daily Mail, Alisson gave a glimpse of what the future holds in his first training session as a Liverpool player.

Klopp is said to be pleased with Alisson’s alertness and sharpness at Melwood. Liverpool players were also left very impressed because of one save in particular.

In the video below, Alisson somehow scurries across goal to deny Marko Grujic from point-blank range after Xherdan Shaqiri’s cross.

No wonder Liverpool players were raving about Alisson, who Klopp has confirmed as the club’s number one goalkeeper for next season ahead of Loris Karius.

“We brought in Alisson and it is clear that he will be our number one,” the German said last month. “Otherwise, you don’t pay that kind of money.

“Everybody thinks it’s a lot of money. It is a lot of money, but he could’ve left for crazy money.

“The clause for [Jan] Oblak, for example, is €100m, so nice! The goalkeeper market is different because it’s not each year that there is anybody available.

“We didn’t know exactly if Alisson is available or not, but from a specific moment we realised obviously he is available and that’s the moment when we decided we want to go for him.”
