How Gerrard and Lampard reacted to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s screamer v Man City

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain enjoyed one of the best nights of his career as Liverpool pulled off a brilliant 3-0 win over Manchester City in the Champions League.

The former Arsenal midfielder – who joined Liverpool for £35m last summer – made it 2-0 in the 20th minute with a stunning effort from 25 yards.

“It was a great start for us – going 3-0 up before half-time set us up brilliantly,” Oxlade-Chamberlain told BT Sport.

“We knew we had to start fast, but I don’t think that was hard today with the atmosphere. From coming into the ground right through to the warm-up, the fans were unbelievable out there.

“It got me going and I’m sure it got the rest of the boys going. We’ve won the game in the first-half and then had to defend well in the second.

“It was a good strike. The space just opened up for me,” he added. “I’ve been working on that, on trying to do it more often.

“I showed myself that if it’s on more often I can keep doing it.”

Legendary Premier League midfielder Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard were watching the match from the BT Sport studio.

Their reaction to Oxlade-Chamberlain’s stunning strike was captured and shared to social media.
