Henderson’s box-to-box cameo v Southampton shows he can start there ahead of Fabinho (VIDEO)

There’s been much said about Jordan Henderson’s performance v Southampton, so here’s a chance to check it out properly!

Hendo came on with the score at 1-1 and the team desperately needing an injection of energy and some offensive threat – not something especially associated with a midfielder who’d racked up no goals or assists all season before the trip to St. Mary’s.

In the video below, you’ll see Hendo making productive interceptions, tackles, forward passes, bursting into the box, getting an assist and bagging – in just half an hour on the pitch.

He was a massive upgrade on Gini Wijnaldum and Naby Keita and we reckon it’s enough for Klopp to consider starting Hendo as a no.8, ahead of Fabinho, more regularly.

After all, Henderson only became an anchoring midfielder in 2016/17. Before then, his role always utilised his box-to-box running.
