Gini Wijnaldum speaks out after ‘liking’ a controversial comment about Mane & Salah

Liverpool laid down a marker for their Premier League title credentials with a 2-1 win away to Tottenham on Saturday – a fixture they lost 4-1 last season.

Goals from Georginio Wijnaldum and Roberto Firmino ensured the Reds made it five wins from five and remain joint-top of the table with Chelsea.

One of the biggest things viewers noticed during the match was that Sadio Mane missed multiple opportunities to pass to Mohamed Salah.

In fact, Mane was forced to delete an Instagram post due to Salah supporters bombarding it with comments slamming him for not passing the ball.

Speaking of Instagram, the pair’s teammate Wijnaldum accidentally ‘liked’ a comment on the social media network, the content of which concerned plenty of Liverpool fans.

The 27-year-old was linked with a move away from Anfield this summer but has looked very assured in a deep-lying central midfield role.

Wijnaldum opened the scoring against Spurs with his very first away league goal since arriving in English football at Newcastle United back in 2015.

On Sunday night, the Dutchman ‘liked’ a comment comparing Liverpool’s teamwork in the 2017-18 campaign to Mane not linking up with Salah at Wembley.

The person’s remark, shown further down the page, reads: “What characterised Liverpool’s attack last season was the teamwork and understanding between Salah, Firmino and Mane.

“It didn’t matter who scores, but who is in the best situation to assist him (another player) a goal, but what happens this season is only single play.

“Especially from Mane, who showed up today in the Tottenham match not passing to Salah in more than one chance. I do not really know why!

“Is it an ego?! I think Klopp should fix the situation quickly before it costs him important matches and maybe championships”.
