Steven Gerrard has revealed he would love Lionel Messi at Liverpool, if he could make any player in the world move to Anfield.
The former club captain, who won the Champions League with his boyhood side in 2005, is a huge fan of the Barcelona man, who has won virtually every honour in the sport.
Messi, 29, has lifted eight La Liga titles, four Champions Leagues, four Copa del Reys, three Club World Cups and five Ballon d’Or crowns in a simply stunning career.
He’s rated by many as the greatest player to have ever played the game and Gerrard would prefer him at Liverpool ahead of anyone else in world football.
When a young fan asked which player would be best for his club to sign, and suggested he’d like Lionel Messi to join Manchester City, Gerrard agreed and told BT Sport: ‘I think I’d agree with you.
‘I’d love Messi at Liverpool.’
