Liverpool have enjoyed perhaps their best transfer window this century.
After making the Champions League final, Jurgen Klopp saw fit to add Naby Keita, Fabinho, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson Becker to his already impressive side.
The likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino will have even more high-quality service in 2018/19.
After losing out on Nabil Fekir before the start of the World Cup, it had been suggested that Liverpool’s business for the summer is over.
The Frenchman was viewed as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho and the Reds have struggled to find another suitable candidate.
However, there have been rumours of interest in another attacking player in Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic.
The American teenager is certainly not a Coutinho-like player, but would be a welcome addition to Liverpool’s front line.
Dortmund value Pulisic at around €65m, with Chelsea and Real Madrid also interested.
But German football expert Raphael Honigstein has made an interesting prediction with regards to Liverpool and the American star.
“If things don’t change in terms of extending his contract is concerned, then he will then definitely be sold in the summer of 2019,” Honigstein told ESPN.
“That puts it into an interesting context because if you know there’s a club now, you wouldn’t force a deal through this summer, you could say ‘how about next summer?’.
“I think Liverpool, who have been very smart in recent years, could do almost ‘a Keita’ and say, you know what, next summer, Dortmund have to sell you. Why don’t you come to us then?
“We’ll do a do a deal now… of course it’s not strictly legal (laugh) so you have to keep it quiet, but it’s being done all the time in football, and that’s a very realistic scenario.”Honigstein was the man who wrote Klopp’s biography ‘Bring the Noise’ so he’s a man who’s prediction can be trusted.
