From Van Dijk to Jamie Vardy – Who will become Klopp’s next big signing?

The bookmakers think Jurgen Klopp’s side could be after a few additions.

With the January transfer window fast-approaching, rumours have already started surrounding players that Liverpool could be interested in.

Following a busy festive schedule the Premier League will be thrown straight into a world of transfer rumours at the start of the New Year, with the Reds set to be, once again, at the centre of discussions.

So, who do the bookies think Jurgen Klopp could be targeting?

We’ve had a look at Skybet to see who they think Liverpool could be interested in next month:

Virgil van Dijk – 6/4

No surprise to see this one right at the top of the list really was it?

After his transfer request in the summer and a very public pursuit from Liverpool for the Southampton centre back, he’s once again being linked with a move in January.

The Reds are clear 6/4 favourites to secure the Dutch international ahead of Manchester City at 9/2 – whilst Van Dijk is 10/11 to stay at Southampton.

Javier Mascherano – 6/1

The bookies seem to think that there is a small chance a rumoured return to Anfield could be on for Javier Mascherano.

The midfielder became a hero at Liverpool over his time with the club before making the move to Barcelona – where his game-time is starting to become more limited.

Liverpool are 6/1 second-favourites behind “any Chinese club” at evens to sign the Argentine international.

Thomas Lemar – 6/1

Another player who was strongly linked over the summer, speculation is already starting to grow around the future of Thomas Lemar in the upcoming transfer window.

Arsenal were the Reds’ reported main contenders over the summer for the French international and the bookies have that as the case again this time around.

The Gunners and Liverpool are joint-favourites at 6/1, but the winger is still priced at 1/3 to stay with Monaco.

Leon Goretzka – 8/1

The Schalke midfielder is the player that rumour is strongest around right now as his contract at the Bundesliga club is due to run out at the end of the season.

Liverpool find themselves 8/1 second-favourites behind rivals Manchester United at 6/1 in this market, with Barcelona back at 10/1 and Juventus at 12/1.

Interestingly though, the midfielder is still priced at 4/11 to stay at the Bundesliga side.

Ryan Sessegnon – 8/1

The young left-back has impressed a whole host of Premier League clubs with some impressive performances for Fulham, and was another player strongly linked with a move in the summer.

Instead, he signed a new contract with the west London club, but that’s not stopping the bookies offering odds on his departure in January.

Spurs are 5/2 favourites ahead of Liverpool at 8/1 and Manchester United at 16/1 – but the youngster is heavily backed at 1/2 to stay put.

Steven N’Zonzi – 16/1

There have been rumours recently that Sevilla star Steven N’Zonzi could be looking for a move away from the club, which has reportedly interested a number of Europe’s top sides.

That’s reflected in the bookies odds, with Liverpool behind Arsenal at 2/1 and Everton at 4/1 to sign the French midfielder.

Riyad Mahrez – 16/1

After admitting he wanted to leave Leicester City in the summer, it’s probably no surprise to see Riyad Mahrez pop up in this list.

However, according to the bookies, Liverpool are a little way down the pecking order in the race to sign the Algerian international.

Arsenal are clear favourites at 2/1 – with Chelsea and Spurs both ahead of Liverpool too on 8/1 and 10/1 respectively.

Jamie Vardy – 20/1

Having regained his form coming in to this campaign, the bookies seem to think there’s a slim chance of a move on the cards for Jamie Vardy in January.

Only a slim chance, mind.

Arsenal are 14/1 favourites in this market with Atletico Madrid and Everton level on 16/1 – all ahead of Liverpool back at 20/1.

Unsurprisingly, Vardy is priced at 1/33 to stay at Leicester City.

Luke Shaw – 20/1

A Liverpool raid on Manchester United would be rare – but the bookies aren’t ruling out that being the case for Luke Shaw.

The full back is struggling for game-time under Jose Mourinho this season and is being linked by some with a move away from Old Trafford as the World Cup looms.

Spurs are clear favourites at 7/4 in this market ahead of Newcastle at 7/1 and Southampton at 11/1 – all well clear of Liverpool at 20/1.

Looks like we’ll be waiting longer for another Manchester United-Liverpool transfer.

Ross Barkley – 25/1

Moves across Merseyside are very uncommon these days, but the bookmakers seem to think there’s a small chance Ross Barkley could be the man to go against that.

Liverpool are 25/1 to sign the Everton star – which is way behind favourites Spurs at 2/1 and Chelsea at 4/1.
