Forget Hart: Liverpool to battle Arsenal for £30m EPL Winner

Liverpool will battle with Arsenal for the signature of Kasper Schmeichel, according to the Daily Star Sunday.

Goalkeeper has become a word to be mentioned quietly at Anfield in recent years. From Simon Mignolet to now the much-maligned Loris Karius, the position between the sticks is just one of a number of issues that Jurgen Klopp needs to address to fix his shaky defence.

The Leicester goalkeeper is reportedly set to become the subject of a bidding war with both teams currently having doubts about their first-choice stoppers.

Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius have been shaky for the Reds, while Petr Cech has been criticised in recent weeks at the Emirates.

The Danish shot-stopper was crucial in the Foxes unexpectedly winning the Premier League title last season and he was rewarded with a contract extension in August, tying him down at the King Power stadium until 2021.

Schmeichel, is said to carry a £30million transfer fee and will almost certainly leave the King Power Stadium if the Foxes are relegated this campaign.

Manchester City, the 28-year-old’s former club, are also said to be watching the situation closely.
