It’s a long-running joke that Liverpool fans are always optimistically making out that next year will be their year.
However, next year really could be the season that the Merseyside outfit end their long wait for their first Premier League title.
Liverpool, one of the most decorated club sides in European football history, haven’t won the English league title since 1990. For a club of their stature, that is simply far too long.
However, there are signs that everything is in place for the Reds to have a serious crack at ending that drought next season.
They may have finished fourth in the Premier League table last term but they scored more goals than any other team barring Manchester City, who set a host of new records under Pep Guardiola.
Jurgen Klopp’s side looked far more solid in the second half of the season following the arrival of Virgil van Dijk and they will believe that anything is possible after reaching the Champions League final.
Furthermore, they have convinced star man Mohamed Salah to sign a new long-term contract and retained the services of their other key players including Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
KEITA COULD MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE FOR LIVERPOOL
We haven’t even mentioned the two new signings yet: Fabinho and Naby Keita, both of whom could have a huge impact at Anfield next season.
Liverpool fans have been waiting patiently for the arrival of Keita, who takes Steven Gerrard’s iconic number eight shirt, after his signing was announced last August.
The 23-year-old, who joined the Reds in a £52.75 million deal from RB Leipzig this summer, is an indefatigable box-to-box midfielder expected to seriously improve Liverpool’s midfield.
Keita has been training with his new teammates for the first time this week and footage has emerged of the Guinea international in action.

He also took part in a four-sides training match and looked full of energy…
If this is what he’s like at the start of pre-season, just imagine what he’ll be like come August 12, when Liverpool kick-off the new season against West Ham.
