LIVERPOOL have been handed a major boost after Real Madrid reportedly backed out of a deal for Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian has been in fantastic form this season as the Reds chase a sixth Champions League title.
In his first season at Anfield, he has scored 43 goals in 49 appearances and has landed the PFA Player of the Year award.
And in 12 matches in the Champions League, he has scored 10 as Porto, Roma, and Manchester City all succumbed to his talent in the knockout stages.
It has led to widespread rumours that Los Blancos are looking at signing the former Roma forward as they look to sign a new world-class attacker in the summer.
With the futures of Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema in the air, reports suggested that Florentino Perez is ready to splash the cash on a new dynamic striker to partner Cristiano Ronaldo.
But Diario Gol are now reporting that the European champions have cooled their interest in Salah because he would be too expensive. Real have also been linked with a move for Neymar, but have experienced similar problems.
It is not clear which direction they will take now, but Diario Gol reckon that a move for Antoine Griezmann could be on the cards.
It seems unlikely, especially considering he is currently with their huge local rivals Atletico Madrid and a move to Barcelona beckons.
Zinedine Zidane’s side face Liverpool in a twist of fate in the Champions League final, with the Frenchman looking to land his third European crown in a row.
The former Real midfielder has an incredible record for the Madrid side as coach, having never lost a knockout tie.
They have beaten three European juggernauts on their route to the final in Paris St-Germain, Juventus and Bayern Munich.
