Julian Brandt is reportedly being targeted by Liverpool in preparation for the summer transfer window, sparking a strong reaction on social media.
The 20-year-old has impressed greatly since breaking into the Bayer Leverkusen first-team two seasons ago, while starring for Germany at every youth level from Under-15 onwards.
That national team career includes four caps for Joachim Low’s senior side and a run to the final of the 2016 Olympic Games.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the Merseyside giants are now plotting a move for the talented winger.
Brandt is valued at £20 million by Leverkusen, the source suggests, though would not be available to purchase this month.
Instead, the report claims that Liverpool will challenge Bayern Munich for his signature in the summer, as Klopp will seek to rebuild his squad for a campaign almost certain to include European football.
Brandt has certainly showcased his potential this season, playing in every Bundesliga and Champions League fixture, creating a squad-high total of 31 scoring chances across the two competitions.
Following the latest speculation surrounding interest from the Reds, here’s a selection of responses from Twitter.
Brandt is an exceptional talent. Just wish the club went for it in the window they are operating in rather than saying it'll be the next one

Having never watched Promes play (anyone who says they have is a liar or lives in Russia) I'd rather have Brandt than Promes. #LFC

Julian Brandt would be an astute summer signing for #LFC but I can’t help but feel he’d be well used between now and the end of the season.

I wonder if Mane can delay the AFCON till the summer whilst Liverpool sort out this Brandt deal

For example, I'd rather wait on Brandt for the summer than buy someone now and miss out on him.

That Brandt news means absolutely nothing to me, anything can happen between now & the summer, in only interested in this window.

It's fine waiting til summer to go for Pulisic, Brandt etc. but we're in a title race now. Spending in January could make a huge difference.

I hope we buy Brandt in the summer one of the best young players
