Fan-favourite makes huge Liverpool transfer claim about England’s most talented striker

DANNY MURPHY reckons the clock is ticking on Daniel Sturridge’s Liverpool career.

Sturridge has started just four times in all competitions this season and was hauled off on the hour mark in last night’s 0-0 draw against Manchester United.

“It’s a difficult one with Sturridge because I think he’s the most talented striker in England the best finisher but the way Klopp wants to play I can’t see him being first choice when everybody’s fit,” former Liverpool midfielder Murphy told BBC 5 Live.

“He doesn’t seem the like the type of lad to sit around on the bench.

“I’d be surprised if next season he was still a Liverpool player.”

Liverpool upped the tempo against a defensive-minded United when Sturridge was replaced by Adam Lallana and Murphy thinks Klopp’s high-pressing style just doesn’t suit Sturridge’s game. When asked whether Liverpool improved because Sturridge went off, Murphy said: “A little bit, yeah.

“The obvious reason for that is the way that he wants them to play without the ball.”Daniel is obviously a superb player when they’ve got good possessions and lots of the ball.

“He’s not as tenacious with his closing down and his pressing as Firmino and the other boys.”
