Liverpool would be in a position to challenge for the Premier League title if N’Golo Kante was at Anfield, according to Owen Hargreaves.
The Reds emerged as early frontrunners in the top-flight earlier in the season but have slipped to fourth since the New Year.
Jurgen Klopp’s charge have only registered three points from their last five league games and suffered a surprise defeat to relegation-battlers Hull City on Saturday.
But despite their poor recent form, Hargreaves believes Liverpool are only one or two players away from becoming genuine title contenders.
And the former England star reckons the Reds would be a completely different side with N’Golo Kante at Klopp’s disposal.
The French midfielder has continued his incredible form for Chelsea this term after sealing a £30million summer move from Leicester City.
When asked whether Kante was the best player in the Premier League, Hargreaves told BT Sport: ‘He’s not even the best player in his team.
‘But I think Liverpool could compete [for the title] with a player like Kante. He literally does the job of two or three players on the pitch.’
