Jon Flanagan would inject leadership and passion into the Liverpool defence if Jurgen Klopp recalled the full-back from his loan spell at Burnley, according to Rob Jones.
Liverpool suffered a humiliating 3-1 loss to defending champions Leicester City on Monday night in what was a blow to the Merseyside outfit’s chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
Lucas Leiva and James Milner struggled to perform in unorthodox positions in the Liverpool back four as Klopp’s side failed to seize their chance to move back into the Premier League’s top four.
Klopp allowed Flanagan to go out on loan to promoted side Burnley at the start of the season despite the defender’s promising reputation at the Merseyside club.
The England international has made nine appearances in all competitions for Sean Dyche’s side but has struggled to tie down a regular spot in the Burnley first-team.
Asked whether Klopp should consider recalling Flanagan from his loan spell at Turf Moor, former Liverpool right-back Jones tweeted:
