Juventus hope to announce the arrival of Emre Can after Liverpool take on Real Madrid in the Champions League final.
That is according to Juventus Beppe Marotta who was speaking on the future of the Liverpool midfielder on Saturday. Can’s contract with Liverpool expires this summer and the Reds have been frustrated in their attempts to tie him down to a new deal.
Juventus have been in talks with Can since January and the Germany international’s move has now been virtually confirmed by Marotta.
He said:’In the past year, there is great optimism regarding Emre Can. We hope to confirm his signing after the Champions League finale.’
Liverpool and Can have been unable to come terms over his wages, with the 24-year-old reportedly demanding around £100,000 a week, almost double what Can currently earns.
Real await Liverpool in the Champions League final and Can is still hoping to be fit for the showdown. Can has not played since March due to a back injury, but did fly to Marbella with the rest of the Liverpool for a warm weather training camp.
The midfielder will be assessed in Spain before a decision is made about whether he can play against Real. Liverpool are the underdogs against Real, as the La Liga champions are going for their third Champions League title in a row.
