Mohamed Salah rinses three Man Utd players – Rio Ferdinand reacts on Twitter

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah came into today’s match against Manchester United full of confidence after his exploits for Egypt during the international break.

The 25-year-old sent his country to the 2018 World Cup by scoring both goals, including a dramatic stoppage-time penalty, against Congo last weekend.

Hailed as a hero back in Egypt, there was never any doubt that Salah would start in Liverpool’s biggest match of the season so far.

“Very proud,” Jurgen Klopp, per Goal, said in his pre-match press conference when asked what he thought of Salah holding his nerve. Did anybody see the six-minute video summary of the game?

“I never saw a celebration like this for 1-0 after 60 minutes – I thought it was a Golden Goal in a World Cup final!

“Then, after 87 minutes they made the equaliser, obviously not a nice moment. Then, 94 minutes, I never saw a celebration of a penalty like this until someone said, ‘by the way, we still have to score’.

“I nearly had a heart attack, I thought I had to go down there and take the situation. But he did it and I would say in this moment he is our No.1 penalty taker.

“That pressure was unbelievable, he did really well, and after 27 years it’s fantastic news for Egypt.”

Salah was arguably the standout performer during the first half against United and produced one of the highlights of the opening 45 minutes: a magnificent run from his own half.

The Egyptian brilliantly drifted past three Man Utd players and you can watch the footage here…

Salah’s run prompted a reaction from former Man Utd defender Rio Ferdinand on Twitter.

“#Salah needs to be subbed quickly 😱🙌🏽“ Ferdinand tweeted.

The former England international was clearly very impressed by Salah’s moment of magic.
