BARCELONA are set to include Ivan Rakitic in their bid to prise Philippe Coutinho away from Liverpool, according to reports.
Barcelona want Liverpool playmaker Coutinho to be Andres Iniesta’s long-term heir.
The Brazil international has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Catalan giants with all that remains is the two clubs to agree on a transfer fee.
Reportedly Barcelona are willing to offer the Reds a huge £80million to part with their star asset.
Jurgen Klopp wants to retain Coutinho for the forthcoming season but fresh claims are saying a fee of £89m could tempt the German into selling.
However, Spanish outlet Diario Gol are saying Barcelona are willing to include Rakitic in their latest offer.
The €61m-rated Croatia international was a big hit upon signing from Sevilla in 2014, helping Barcelona scoop the treble in Luis Enrique’s first season in charge.
But Rakitic found life in Catalonia tougher last term, scoring nine goals from 51 games as the club lost out on La Liga and the Champions League to fierce rivals Real Madrid.
Liverpool supposedly told Barcelona months ago that Rakitic would tempt them into selling Coutinho.
And manager Ernesto Valverde is now supposedly willing to bow to their demands by doing just that.
Rakitic and Coutinho both signed new contracts with their respective clubs last season.
But they could now exchange clubs in what would be one of the transfer deals of the summer.
