We’re keen to forget about what happened in our transfer window last month but there are plenty of reminders of it still knocking about.
We didn’t sign anyone during the month of January and you have to wonder just how our season could have gone had we brought some players in but that is the way it is.
We were certainly linked with plenty of players, though, and apparently there was a bid made for Gregoire Defrel from Marseille – a reported Reds target.
As quoted by Corriere dello Sport (via Le 10 Sport,) Giovanni Carnevali revealed that his club Sassuolo would not sell the French forward to the French club – though it would have been interesting if we’d matched the bid of €30 million.
“We received a €30 million offer during the winter, but we decided to reject it.
“We made enough money from players sales this summer that we could allow ourselves to refuse such an offer.”
Defrel is just part of the exciting Sassuolo side at the moment so they at least will be happy with keeping hold of him for now.
