Dejan Lovren gave one of the worst performances of the Premier League season in Liverpool’s 4-1 defeat to Tottenham and looked out of his depth in every sense.
Jurgen Klopp’s defence have been leaking goals since the start of the campaign, conceding 16 in the English top flight, and Lovren has been at the heart of the side’s troubles at the back.
The Croatian probably thought things couldn’t get much worse as the Merseyside club travelled to Wembley on Sunday but things did get worse – and in quite spectacular fashion. Harry Kane and Son Heung-min put the home team 2-0 in front after 12 minutes before Mohamed Salah pulled one back for the visitors.
Klopp had seen enough, though, and dragged Lovren off after only 31 minutes, replacing the centre-back with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Clearly embarrassed and shaken from the experience, Lovren appears to have responded by deleting Liverpool from his bio and picture on Instagram in the aftermath of the defeat.
