Liverpool are confident of completing a deal for Ajax wonderkid Ki-Jana Hoever, according to reports.
Hoever is yet to make his first-team debut for Ajax but the 16-year-old defender is regarded as one of the most promising young talents in the Dutch outfit’s academy.
Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City have all registered an interest in Hoever but it’s understood the highly-rated full-back is set to join Premier League rivals Liverpool.
Goal suggests the youngster will join up with Liverpool’s academy ahead of the 2018/19 campaign after he rejected the advances of several other clubs.
While Hoever will first play with the Under-18 side, the Dutchman is expected to progress to the Under-23s in the near future. Ajax have been desperate to tie Hoever down on a new contract, but the teenager now has his heart set on a move to Merseyside.
Liverpool completed the signing of England Under-17 starlet Bobby Duncan last month and have also added Fabinho and Naby Keita to their ranks this summer.
Fabinho revealed earlier this week that United were interested in signing him before he secured a switch to Anfield. ‘I was never close to signing for Manchester United, no,’ the Brazilian told FourFourTwo magazine.
‘I heard things said about it, but the truth is it was never a strong possibility. I won’t deny there were a few conversations about my situation with Monaco, but there was never an official offer from United.’
