Liverpool will sign Bayern Munich starlet Renato Sanches this summer, according to Paul Mariner.
The Portuguese teenager is expected to leave to Bundesliga giants in the summer transfer window after failing to secure regular first-team football last term.
Serie A giants AC Milan were thought to be a potential destination for the 19-year-old this summer, while Premier League champions Chelsea have been listed as another suitor.
Indeed, Bayern Munich confirmed that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte asked about the defensive midfielder following their pre-season clash last month.
However, Liverpool have since emerged as surprise contenders to sign the Portugal international as Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster his midfield options.
The Reds were impressive 3-0 winners against Bayern Munich in the Audi Cup on Tuesday evening as Sanches struggled to cope against Liverpool’s devastating attack.
Speaking to ESPN FC about where Sanches could end up in the summer transfer window, former Arsenal striker Mariner said:
“I think he may end up at Liverpool.”
Liverpool have signed AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah, Chelsea teenager Dominic Solanke and Hull City defender Andy Robertson in the summer transfer window so far.
The Reds finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season to secure a return to the Champions League.
