Joel Matip has settled in well at Liverpool, Nathaniel Clyne has revealed.
The Reds were one of the busier teams in the summer transfer market as manager Jurgen Klopp prepared for his first full season in charge, by signing no fewer than six players.
He bolstered his options in central defence with the additions of Ragnar Klavan as well as Matip.
After arriving on a free transfer from Bundesliga outfit Schalke, Matip has started the last six Premier League games in succession and has thoroughly impressed Clyne in the process.
“He’s done really well,” the England international told the club’s official website.
“He’s settled in like he’s been playing for Liverpool for a really long time. He’s built a good partnership and has done really well defensively.
“He’s confident on the ball, you see him driving forward from defence and helping to set up attacks. He’s good and I like playing with him.
“He is not fazed by anything. He is putting in good performances and long may they continue.”
The 25-year-old was sidelined through injury for the first two games of the campaign but made his league debut in the 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur in late August and made more defensive actions (14) than any player on the pitch at White Hart Lane.
Matip has also proven that he is comfortable with the ball at his feet by recording an 88% pass accuracy.
He will be hoping to help Liverpool keep their second successive clean sheet when they host West Bromwich Albion on Saturday evening.
