EDEN HAZARD convinced Christian Benteke to leave Liverpool for Crystal Palace.
The Chelsea star has revealed he was the man to twist Benteke’s arm to make the switch to Selhurst Park this summer.
The two play alongside one another for Belgium and are close friends.
Hazard told The Guardian: “When he decided to leave Liverpool and had the opportunity to sign for Crystal Palace, a good club in the Premier League where he’ll play and score goals because he has team-mates of quality.
“I told him: ‘Come to London. Come, come, because I’ll see you all the time.’”
Hazard posted a pic of himself with Benteke as they returned to England from international duty this week.
Alongside the pic, Hazard wrote: “Travelling home after a busy international break for@belgianreddevils with my friend @christianbenteke now back to business with @chelseafc.”
But although Benteke is a close friend, the Crystal Palace mascot – a bald eagle named Kayla – isn’t.
The beast dive-bombed at Hazard two years ago at Selhurst Park, leaving the Chelsea frontman visibly shaken.
Reflecting on the incident, Hazard said: “It’s not every day you’re walking out on to a football pitch, look up and there’s a massive eagle swooping down at you!”
