Chelsea decision triggers raid on Liverpool: Two players eyed

BOURNEMOUTH are reportedly looking to take either Mamadou Sakho or Joe Gomez on loan from Liverpool.

According to the Daily Mail, Eddie Howe is seeking a defender to replace Nathan Ake, who has been recalled from his loan spell on the south coast by Chelsea.

Sakho, 26, and Gomez, 19, are both said to have emerged as targets for the Bournemouth boss.

Sakho has not played a single minute of first-team football for Liverpool this season after being frozen out by Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.

The Frenchman, who cost the Reds £20m,  is apparently earning £80,000-a-week on Merseyside, which the Cherries would reportedly be unwilling to pay in full.

Gomez meanwhile, returned from a serious knee injury to start in the FA Cup third round draw with Plymouth Argyle yesterday.

He joined the Reds from Charlton in the summer of 2015 for a reported fee of £3.5m.

Howe’s hopes of landing either player are said to be boosted by his good relationship with Liverpool.

He has already taken Jordan Ibe and Brad Smith to the Vitality Stadium in recent months.
