Leon Goretzka stole the show for Germany last night as he struck an impressive early brace in their Confederations Cup semi-final win over Mexico.
He scored two goals in the opening eight minutes to leave watching fans purring.
Among those particularly impressed were fans of Liverpool, who The Mirror reported just last month was a player greatly admired by manager Jurgen Klopp.
The Schalke central midfielder is just 22 but has been a regular in the Bundesliga since he was 18.
His performance last night could put him back on the map.
Liverpool have been linked this week with a big money deal for Naby Keita from Red Bull Leipzig, but The Guardian report his club want a stunning £70 million offer if they are to sell.
Schalke would not demand so much for Goretzka, who The Mirror said was rated at £20 million.
That price tag will have increased after last night’s performance, but nowhere near Keita territory.
Reds fans were left feeling that a move for Goretzka would be the more prudent move.
Here is a look at how Liverpool fans reacted on Twitter to his performance…
What is his selling price? We should be all over him if Keita won't come #LFC

Please spare us a long drawn out pursuit of Keita and sign Goretzka instead. #LFC

Why Liverpool is chasing Naby Keïta is beyond me when they can have Goretzka for less than £25m. Poor scouting system who deserve a sack.

Goretzka might be what Liverpool are looking for

Would love Liverpool to sign Goretzka. One year left on his contract.
