Ben Davies ‘forced to delete embarrassing tweet’ ahead of signing for Liverpool

Ben Davies has been left red-faced by eagle-eyed fans after he deleted an old tweet saying ‘nobody likes Scousers’ ahead of his move to Liverpool.

Liverpool spent £2m to secure the services of the 25-year-old defender from Preston on deadline day.

Jurgen Klopp has been in urgent need to bolster his defensive options thanks to injuries to Joel Matip and Fabinho.

And the Liverpool boss was also dealt an earlier blow in the season after injuries to first-choice centre-back duo Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.

Davies will be a welcomed addition for Klopp to call upon, but the former Preston man probably regrets the cheeky swipe that he made to Scousers.

In the now-deleted tweet, the Liverpool new boy said: “Nobody likes Scousers. Not even Scousers like Scousers.”

Klopp has revealed that he is “really looking forward to working” with Davies, saying the club sees “the quality and we see the potential as well” in him.

The 53-year-old German told Liverpool’s official website: “What I like about Ben is it just shows that each situation creates opportunities.
