Barcelona ‘make Mohamed Salah their top transfer target this summer’

Mohamed Salah was the star as Liverpool returned to Premier League action with a bang on Saturday evening.

The Reds hosted newly-promoted Leeds United in a monster clash at Anfield and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

Jurgen Klopp’s side ran out 4-3 victors and their blushes were spared by Salah who netted a hat-trick – including the 88th-minute winner from the penalty spot.

Without the ‘Egyptian King’ Liverpool could well have lost the first game of their title defence.

But if the latest reports are to be believed, that showing against Leeds might be one of the final times we see Salah in a red shirt.

According to Spanish outlet AS, Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has made the forward his ‘top transfer target’ this summer.

The original report comes from The Express, with the paper reporting that the Dutch coach wants to make a ‘shock signing’ to restore the Blaugrana to their former glory.

Salah could be on the move

Ex-Holland international and close friend to Koeman, Sjaak Swart, claims that Salah is also keen on a move to Camp Nou.

“I know Koeman wants him – and I know Salah would like to go,” he told, per The Express.

GIVEMESPORT’s Ollie Browning says:

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard rumours about Salah moving to Barcelona. He’s one of the best forwards in Europe, so why wouldn’t the La Liga club be interested?

Barca are interested in Salah

But it’s almost impossible to see him moving this summer. Now Lionel Messi has agreed to stay for one more season, surely Barca don’t have the funds to make a big-money move?

If the Argentine’s €700m release clause had been met, then sure. The Spanish club could go after whoever they want.

But that didn’t happen, so it’s hard to see them splashing the cash on Salah – especially if they’re close to a deal with Memphis Depay.
