Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara has allegedly emerged as a transfer target for Barcelona.
Despite maintaining that he is happy with life at the Allianz Arena, speculation persists regarding a potential move to Premier League champions Liverpool.
However, with less than a year left on his contract, reports in Spain are linking the 29-year-old with a return to Barcelona.
Between 2008 and 2013, the academy graduate made 80 appearances for the first team in all competitions, scoring six goals.
While club officials are said to be interested in signing Thiago, the report adds that Ronald Koeman’s preferred addition is Liverpool’s Georginio Wijnaldum.
The Merseyside giants are only likely to sell Wijnaldum to Barcelona if they win the race for Thiago.
