Barcelona found a way to finally secure the transfer of Liverpool star

Barcelona have seemingly set the wheels in motion as they prepare to resurrect their pursuit of Philippe Coutinho in January.

The Spanish side’s interest in the playmaker has refused to fade away since they saw three bids rejected by Liverpool during the summer.

Coutinho’s transfer request also proved to have no impact at the time, with owners Fenway Sports Group standing by their initial insistence that the No.10 would not be sold under any circumstances.

With the re-opening of the transfer window in mind, Barcelona’s stars have been on the case of club president Josep Maria Bartomeu to secure the signing of Coutinho, according to Spanish outlet Sport.

Brazilian compatriot Paulinho has also been working to lure Coutinho to the Nou Camp, whilst former Red Luis Suarez has similarly been on a mission to convince his former teammate to join him, reports the Daily Mail.

Reports emerging from Spain remain worth perceiving with caution, following suggestions in the summer that Coutinho was set to be unveiled as a Barcelona player before added claims that he was distraught to be staying at Anfield.

Judging by his performances of late, the little magician is perfectly happy plying his trade at Liverpool and is fully committed to Jurgen Klopp’s side. Even if ambitions to play for Barcelona are still in the back of his mind, it hasn’t shown.

To let Coutinho leave half-way through the season would be foolish on Liverpool’s part, especially having adopted such a successful and well-respected stance over the situation through August.

He finds himself in the process of adapting to a deep-lying role he deems as his future long-term position, not to mention at the heart of the club’s Champions League campaign and fight to secure European football for next season.

Coutinho is far from finished on Merseyside.
